Who We Are
Established in 2012, Helping Hands Organization (or H2O) is a secular nonprofit support organization registered under Travancore – Cochin Literary, Scientific, Charitable Societies Registration Act XII of 1995 vide Reg. No. TVM/TC/1589/2012.
H2O is the brainchild of Jolly Johnson, the organization’s chief executive director, who launched H2O with the help of 11 social activists hailing from different walks of life ranging from government officials, academicians and private citizens.
H2O, which operates from its office in Karyavattom, Thiruvanathapuram, seeks to better the lives of differently abled children particularly those affected with autism, the underprivileged and the elderly. H2O, in collaboration with the Bengaluru-based national NGO Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA), is committed to promoting active citizenship among children, adolescents and young adults.

“To create a better world for the deprived and needy with a special focus on children who are differently abled.”
Just like Martin Luther King, we too have a dream. Dreams further the growth of the human race despite the obstacles that crop up along the way. H2O dreams of a world where autistic children are capable of destroying the barriers surrounding them, rising above their hurdles.
At H2O, we aim to nurture, teach and motivate children in their battles, hoping to make their lives a bit easier. With every move, we aim to turn our dream into reality.
With our various programs and projects, H2O is working with the differently abled in improving their quality of life. We help them discover hidden talents, tap previously neglected potential and ensure that they are equipped to live a life of dignity and respect.
H2O works primarily with children who are differently abled, underprivileged and also with the elderly. The four pillars of H2O are as follows:
1) Daffodils: H2O’s program for differently abled children
2) Pratheeksha: H2O’s program for underprivileged children
3) Sanjeevani: H2O’s program for senior citizens
4) CMCA: H2O’s program promoting active citizenship among children, adolescents and young adults in collaboration with the NGO, Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness.
In addition to these programs, H2O is also involved in other projects including the H2O outlet and the H2O library.
The organization runs a special support network for parents of differently abled children, particularly autistic children, called Kaithiri. H2O arranges regular workshops and training programs for parents at the H2O Rehab and Facilitation Centre in Karyavattom.
H2O also sponsors the education of physically challenged children, those with differently abled parents and orphans attending regular school. The organization provides financial aid to the selected students including assistance in purchasing their uniforms, books, food, clothing, etc.
The organization offers medical care, special training and life skills development through art, sports and workshops for the children. Residential camps during the summer are also organized.
Periodic academic evaluations of the students are carried out in association with their teachers to assess the efficiency of H2O’s intervention. At present, 108 students have applied for sponsorship under H2O’s project from Sreekaryam Panchayat.
